Congratulations to our 2015 scholarship recipients – Courtney Naumann, Chelsea Panos, and Heather Steffens!

Thank you so much to each of our scholarship applicants!  We had a very difficult time deciding on the winners and had to split the scholarships into three $1,000 awards.  Our difficulty in determining the winners goes to show the wonderfully talented and dedicated students out there.  You all will make great additions to your environmental fields!

Tiffany Dahlberg will discuss “Igniting a Project for Success” at our Wednesday June 3rd meeting.   Ms. Dahlberg is the founder of Ready2ACT  and has helped people and companies save time and money through smart project management, business analysis, and professional development.  The meeting will be held at  Golder Associates, Inc. SWEP is pleased to announcement a scholarship opportunity for 2015.  Up to two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded this year.  We ask that applicants be enrolled in an environmental degree program and be at the junior level or beyond for the fall of 2015.  Please review the SWEP Scholarship Announcement and SWEP Scholarship Form for more information.  Complete application forms should be submitted on or before March 31, 2015 to [email protected].  The scholarship recipients will be notified on May 15, 2015.

Wednesday February 11th will be our first meeting of the new year.  Dr. Tania Schoennagel will discuss “Managing Human-Wildfire Interactions in a Changing Climate”.   Dr. Schoennagel is a research scientist and adjunct professor at the University of Colorado in Boulder.  Her research focuses on the causes and consequences of western forest disturbances, primarily wildfire and insect outbreaks.  The meeting will be held at the Geotech Environmental Equipment, Inc.
